Chest Bone Filler

The chest bone, or sternum, can have a sunken appearance in some children. This condition, known as pectus excavatum or funnel chest, can be mild and go unnoticed or it can be severe, especially during the growth spurts of late childhood and adolescence. In the most severe cases, the sunken breastbone can put pressure on the heart and lungs and prevent them from functioning normally. 가슴필러

It can also cause a child to feel self-conscious about his or her appearance. Surgical repair can be performed to improve breathing, correct the look of the chest wall and resolve any psychological symptoms that may arise from this condition.

Several different types of chest wall reconstruction surgeries are available, including traditional open surgery (Ravitch repair) and minimally invasive techniques (Nuss repair). In general, both techniques improve the structure of the sternum and ribs and reduce the stress on the heart and lungs. The surgery is usually a success in improving chest appearance as well as easing any emotional problems caused by the condition.

The most commonly used bone graft is made from the patient’s own bone tissue from the ribs or iliac crest. This type of graft does not involve vital bone marrow cells and thus eliminates the possibility of rejection by the patient’s body. The graft is attached to a titanium plate system that supports the sternum and ensures that it remains stable.

In some patients, the sternum can be reconstructed using a patient specific titanium implant that has been shaped to fit the deformity. This method is generally less invasive than other reconstructive procedures and can be combined with breast implantation to augment small breasts or be used in patients with other significant chest wall defects.

In more severe cases of pectus excavatum, surgeons can use a procedure called a sternal osteotomy to raise the sternum and ribs. This surgery is a little more risky than the Nuss procedure because it involves cutting through the sternum and ribs, but it can be very successful. In addition, a number of newer reconstructive strategies are being developed for the reshaping of the chest wall that do not involve cutting through the sternum or ribs. 골반필러

These procedures can be performed with the patient’s heart still beating, so they are sometimes referred to as off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery or revascularization without cardiopulmonary bypass (OPCAB). This approach is rapidly becoming more common because it allows for rapid recovery and does not expose patients to the risks associated with having to be placed on a heart-lung machine. This technique has been shown to be safe and effective in a number of studies.
