A special act is a special act. As the name suggests, this is a law that applies to the special case of sexual violence. The most common form of a Special Act crime is criminal voyeurism. This is when a perpetrator takes a non-consensual video of a victim, usually without their knowledge. However, there are exceptions to the rule.

There are also numerous legal measures to protect domestic violence victims. Among these, the Act on the Prevention of Domestic Violence and the Act on the Protection of the Victims of Child Abuse are the most important.
Another worthy of mention is the Act on Pharmacologic Treatment of Sexual Offenders’ Sexual Impulse, which is a law that authorizes courts to issue hormonal treatments to sexual offenders.
The sexual impulse of the offender
According to the act, these treatments are supposed to help lower the sexual impulse of the offender. In order to ensure the quality of these treatments, the government may request a court order to pay for medical treatment that isn’t reimbursed by the offender.
Another notable piece of legislation is the Guide to Protecting Victims in the Process of Investigation and Trial, which details what should and shouldn’t be done during this process. For instance, there are certain things you can’t do while your victim is in the hospital, such as administering injections.
Additionally, the guide advises that there are various laws to minimize the appearances of your victim during the trial. And there are even some special measures to make the prosecutions job easier. While the name of the Act on the Preventing Sexual Crimes and Protecting Victims of Child Abuse might be a bit of a mouthful, it is definitely a big step in the right direction. As the name suggests, this is aimed at ensuring that the perpetrators of child abuse crimes are brought to justice.
