Buying Used Camera Lenses

The market for camera lenses is bigger than it might at first glance appear. For every camera body sold, there are multiple lens sales. Lenses are also expensive to develop and manufacture, with high margins available for specialist products. This makes them less susceptible to the same kind of revenue ups and downs that camera bodies are. This is why it’s important that cameras aren’t all about the body and that they are backed up by a good selection of lenses.중고카메라 렌즈구입

A lot of people find that the best way to get a particular type of lens that they might have missed out on when it was new, is to buy it used. There are a few things to watch out for, but in general this is usually a great idea.

If you are buying a used lens, one thing to watch out for is that it’s in good working order and free from dust and dirt. Ideally you want to check that there is no fungus inside the lens (it can look like dried water spots, or in advanced stages, may even resemble spider webs). Fungus grows when lenses are kept in moist conditions and can eat away at the glass over time, making your photos blurry and unfocused.

Another thing to look out for is a decentered lens element. This happens when a lens is dropped and one of the clips that hold it in place snaps off or loosens. This can make the lens very difficult to use as it can cause the image to warp. This is a fairly easy fix by tightening the retaining clip or using a small screwdriver to correct the alignment.

A third thing to watch out for is a faulty zoom ring. This can be quite difficult to detect, but if you hear a grinding sound when you zoom in or out it’s a sign that something is wrong with the mechanism that controls the zoom. If this is the case, it’s probably not worth buying the lens.

Retailers that specialize in camera gear will often have return or exchange policies, and some, like MPB, even have store warranties. In-person sales are also an option, and these can be very handy if you have any issues with the lens when it arrives at your home.럭키카메라
